shows: 11

date/period: 21.08.2004 - 28.05.2005

Info:

B.R. Stylers is a reggae dub band from Pordenone, a small town in the north east of Italy. B. R. Stylers started playing in spring 2000 and it are composed by Michela Grena (singer), Paolo B (Bass)GP Ennas (drums), Stefano Boscolo (mixer) and Antonio Marchi (keyboards).

During the years they performed at Rototom Reggae Sunsplash festival in Italy, Soca River splash in Slovenia, Mocvara Festival in Croatia, Reggae in Wulf in Germany and had the honour to perform together with many reggae dub artists such as Zion Train, Revolutionary Dub Warriors, Mad Professor, Lee Perry, Horace Andy, Africa Unite - they have also played in many clubs and squats in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

In December 2002 their first album Dub Resonance was released thanks to the great support of an independent Slovenian label, Vinylmania Records, owned by Rolando Jurecko, promoter of the most important reggae festival in Slovenia, the Reggae River Splash in Tolmino.

Despite the album did not find any Italian distributor that could introduce it into the market (and still has not), the work was warmly received and allowed the band to play in many clubs and festivals across Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

In June 2003 Alpha & Omega new album Spirit of the Ancients was released, and B. R. Stylers contributed with 2 remix, created by the Londoner duo A&O, only for their own new album. The two remix are both based on the song One Island dub (Dub Resonance - Vinylmania Records, 2003) and are called

No More Sadness for the sung version and Island Of Dub for the dub version.

In 2004 gigs kept going and not only that. After a gig at Villaggio Globale in Rome such as supporter of the most interesting and well known voice in reggae, Massive Attack, Horace Andy, they got back to Dub alchemy studio in springtime - only one year and a half after the release of their first album, Dub Resonance - to record an EP called Over this place, completely written and arranged by B. R. Stylers themselves and mixed by Madaski at the Spliff Dada Studio in Pinerolo (Turin). Special guest on this EP is the English dub activist Jah Free.

End of June the EP finally was released in the market, again under the Vinylmania Records Slovenian Label, and gave start to the Over This Space Tour 2004. Again B. R. Stylers performed at the Rototom Reggae Sunsplash main stage, River splash in Tolmino, at the Etno blog in Lignano Sabbiadoro and at the main reggae festival in Poland, the Bielawa reggae festival, first gig of the short tour that took them for the very first time in eastern Europe.

In September they attended some other important events such as Baraonda Summer Festival, opening for Africa Unite, and in the middle of the month, they attended the short movie European exhibit Milano Film Festival

January 2005, after a short pause, B. R. Stylers new album Dubbing From The Earth is ready. While waiting for the final release, the band is now working on the new dub live show which will start at the end of April.

Stay tuned
