Hermakuti, a top reggae and dub band on the Czech scene at the beginning of the century, can be considered as a forerunner of United Flavour. It was thanks to Hermakuti that Carmen (singer, songwriter) and Djei (singer, bass guitar and percussion player and primarily a songwriter and producer) first met on the stage. After the split of Hermakuti, these two continued a co-operation. In the spring of 2004 they decided to put together a multigenre band and chose current members of United Flavour. Initially the band performed under the name Spanish Flavour, but this was changed to the current one when a debut EP was released. The new name better describes their multicultural spirit. The word “United” in the title has also some other meanings, i.a. the band wants to show how people of different nationalities, origines or beliefs can work together without any problems, violence or struggles and above all - they can enrich each other. Different cultural influences of Spain, Africa and Central Europe have been moulded here into an energetic mix of several musical styles. Reggae, latino, soul, hip-hop, r\’n\’b and dancehall – all this can be found in the music produced by United Flavour. Henry D, originally from Zambia, now settled down in the Czech republic, is a frequent collaborator of the band both in concerts and in the studio. United have some of his hip-hop songs in their repertoire.
